Now That God Has Our Attention …

For the past several years I’ve been deeply concerned about the state of the American church. I’ve read a number of books, blogs, and articles that paint a demoralizing picture of how we’ve become complacent.  As leaders we talk, year after year, about the changes we believe are necessary to bring about revival and revitalization. And, year after year, we continue to do the same things we’ve always done – with the same result. Barna Research shows that more than 100 churches in our country are closing their doors every week!

Here we are in the year 2020 (I never thought I’d see the day) and we’re in the midst of a global pandemic. Church as we’ve come to know it, is no longer the church as we’ve known it. I believe COVID-19 is a wake-up call of sorts. Generally, for the nations of the world; and specifically for the American church. Revelation 3:17 says, For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.”

Let’s wake up! Let’s get to work! Let’s get back to the mission of the church!
